Since starting the Princeton Japanese Language Club through Meetup.com back in 2009, I have become increasingly aware of a large population of Japanese expats and locals with a common interest in fellowship and sharing their language, culture and food. Over the years we have clocked many miles visiting DC, Philadelphia, Edgewater, NJ, Long Island and New York City; to experience authentic cultural events and the obligatory culinary delights, for which you could easily feel connected to and for a moment actually in Japan.
Before starting a local language club, I traveled between Philly and New Brunswick. Due to scheduling limitations and seeing that I was spending more time traveling than participating, I began to wonder who was in my area that would be interesting in join me.
Similarly, I wonder if we can have our own authentic Japanese Market in central New Jersey. Like Mitsuwa in Edgewater, I believe a market could thrive here. Right now, it's just an idea, a dream, but isn't that were all good things start.
